WOW, I am such a slacker! I have a ton to catch up on here.

Lila’s getting older by the day. She’s walking, running, talking up a STORM, and has a brand new fresh sassy attitude to go along with it all. She certainly has a mind of her own, and isn’t afraid to show it (to us, anyway–she’s still shy towards most people she’s not around a lot). She’s such a tomboy too–certainly not delicate or cautious. She’ll dive head-first off the couch if I let her, and doesn’t even flinch over skinned knees.

She can tell us the sounds a snake, owl, monkey, cow, sheep, and pig make, and sometimes a dog and cat too. Her pig says “la la la!” though, after the Sandra Boynton book. 🙂 It’s adorable. She can also say a ton of words…off the top of my head: mama, dada, Lila, hi, bye-bye, all done, whoa, tubba (tub), pizza, cheese, water, bubbles, dog, ball, up, Roxie (this one is a stretch, but I can recognize it), and sometimes Gracie (her cousin).

In April, we attempted pics of Gracie & Lila at Easter…these were interesting.

We did also take some cute ones of them on their first Egg Hunt:

We also took the girls with some friends of ours to the Boston Marathon, which I posted about on my business blog here.

And lastly, we found out that Lila’s going to have a new cousin around November 10th! I’m trying to work on an 11/11 Birth Day for Gracie’s new little brother or sister, so we can share a birthday. 🙂

May has been an absolute whirlwind as well. So much so, that I’m SUPER behind on photos for May. But here are a few recent ones of the little monkey.

(Water table fun with her 2 best friends.)

(Isn’t her bathing suit the cutest thing ever??)

I’m working on getting caught up on the rest of the photos, and trying to post more! We have a super busy and fun-filled summer ahead of us, can’t wait!

We’re still here! Summer is FLYING by, I can’t believe how quickly. We’ve been so busy, and having so much fun, I just haven’t had time to update this little blog much.

Lila is doing awesome, she is getting more and more fun every day. She is sitting up now, and can sit unassisted for a little bit at a time. She’s still pretty wobbly, but she LOVES doing this. Shocking, right? Miss Independent!

(Sitting in the rocker in her room)

She is also rolling over all the time. She can stand to be on her belly for much longer now, before getting upset, and needing to be flipped back over–she knows HOW to roll all the way, but she doesn’t do this often yet. She LOVES playing in her exersaucer (“the office”), and her jumper (“the gym”), and loves to fling toys off these onto the floor.

We’ve started giving her rice cereal too–this was hilarious at first. The faces she makes are TOO funny. She was so not a fan at first, but now she loves it, and grabs for the spoon to try to feed herself…before sticking her thumb in her mouth, smearing cereal all over her face, and then all over the chair she’s sitting in.

The latest development (for those of you who don’t follow on FB or Twitter)…is that Lila has her first tooth! I think there are two, actually, but she won’t let me see them, she keeps sticking her tongue over her gums when I try to look. I can definitely feel one, the front bottom right. The bottom left is the other one that I think is coming through. Lila doesn’t really know what to make of it, she is constantly chewing on her bottom lip, and was extra fussy on Monday, when tooth #1 was breaking through. I can’t believe she ALREADY has teeth!

We are also gearing up for a road trip next week. We are driving to VA to see Lila’s grandma, grandpa, and great-grandma! We’re hoping Lila sleeps most of the way, so wish us luck! We’ll also be seeing some friends while we’re down there. It will be a fun trip!

Last little bit of info, my photography blog is officially up and running! So be sure to head over there and have a look around, and subscribe/sign up to stay in touch with the latest happenings at MJP.

Hope everyone is having a great summer!

Today Lila is 5 months old.

Five months ago tonight, Lila was in the NICU at Children’s, dad at her side. I was in a hospital bed 25 miles away, my sister at my side. It’s crazy how much has happened in these past five months.

There really are no words to describe what her presence means to us…so I’m doing yet another photo-filled post. All of these are from this month, we’ve had quite the whirlwind.

(Everyone’s waving at Mama Caitlin, my excellent assistant photographer!)

(Cracking up at her godmother.)

(Apparently she gets this look from me, according to Cait.)

(Playing with dad tonight.)

(Miss Serious, she was not feelin’ the photoshoot tonight. Long day on a road trip to Amherst.)

Happy 5 month birthday, Bean, you just get better and better every day. We love you more than we can ever say.

Again, with the quick, short post, we are just so busy these days!

The newest news, aside from Cardiology not needing to see Lila until she’s a year old (YAY!), is that she’s rolling over these days, constantly. Which makes naptime interesting–Lila likes to roll over in her sleep, onto her belly. She wakes up almost immediately, and is NOT pleased, so I have to run stairs all day, and flip her back over. She’s rolled 360 degrees a few times this week, but not in her crib yet (and I’m not sure if there’s even room for that at this point).

Mobile Baby makes mama nervous, haha. If I look away for ONE SECOND, she’s in a new place, new position. I know all you parents already know this, but I’m just flabbergasted at how quickly she moves.

We are taking Lila on a Photowalk of Boston tomorrow, I can’t wait to show her some of the city. I’m hoping she behaves for a little while!

Bedtime for this mama…Lila’s other new thing is to wake up at 4:30am. It’s lovely.

Today’s photos (taken today in our front yard):

(Thanks to Auntie Sarah for the AWESOME outfit, it is my current fave!!)

I would LOVE more hours in the day. There is so much going on lately!

I warned you all before, this month is ridiculously busy…and it’s true. I am SO backlogged on editing photos, and on updating here on Miss Thing.

As you can see from the time stamp, it is WELL past my bedtime. Especially when I have a 4 month old who refuses to nap these days. Oh yes, we’re back there. It is NOT FUN. I’m hoping this little phase is gone soon, because I am BEAT.

We spent the 4th at my sister & brother-in-law’s place in Southie, last year with the roof deck, so sad. They sold their condo, and are trying to buy a place out by us…if only the perfect place would go on the market! Lila was great that night, until it came time for bed. She refused to sleep at their place (a first, she ALWAYS naps there), and so we trudged home around 8:30, listening to a yelling Lila the whole way. We watched some of the fireworks on tv that night, in between consoling a VERY upset little girl. Sigh. There’s always next year, hopefully she won’t be so mad about her routine being interrupted.

Sunday we headed to CT to see Jon’s dad & stepmom, and the rest of the family. Lila was wonderful there, which was nice. Then we headed to the Cape to meet up with my parents (sans Jon, he had to work, poor guy). Lila was again lovely there, and napped like a champ. She only freaked a couple of times. 🙂

Aaand that brings us to this weekend. Wherein Lila has decided she doesn’t want, nor NEED, to nap. Nothing over 30 minutes for 3 days now. It’s been interesting, to say the least.

Yeah. I love caffeine these days.

A couple of photos from recently, only one of Lila…sorry. I’m working on getting some more of her, promise! This week is busy, but I will try to grab some updated pics. Miss L is rolling over now consistently, grabbing toys, and my mom and Jon are convinced she’s waving (I am not…yet). She also loves talking to her cousin Gracie, they have the most hilarious conversations.

(Lila’s cousin Maddie, she LOVES the camera, and rightfully so. How beautiful is she?!)

(Gracie, hamming it up for the camera, as usual. Love her.)

(I could take pics with her all day!)

(Would have been my parents’ Christmas card, but *someone* is being difficult…shocking.)

(Mama Caitlin, holding Lila, although you can’t see her.)

And, because I just cannot NOT post a pic of Lila:

We are heading to Children’s tomorrow, for a cardiology checkup. Fingers crossed all goes well!

This will be a super quick post, I just wanted to remember that Lila rolled from belly to back for the first time today! (She’s already done back to belly, which I wrote about a couple of weeks ago.)

We were playing on the floor late in the afternoon today, and I rolled her over for her dreaded tummy time. She is NOT a fan of tummy time, and it upsets her reflux, so we probably don’t do as much as we should. (This doesn’t worry us though, because she does so well with holding her head up and trying to sit up and everything.) So I rolled her over, and she propped herself up with her arms (this is another new trick, only in the past few days), and was sort of playing with her toys for a couple of minutes. Next thing I know, she stretches her left arm out in front of her head, and rolls over onto her back! She was SO proud of herself.

I was a little surprised she even did it, because she was extra fussy today. Not crying so much as just whining a lot, not napping for long, and wanting to eat a lot (I’ll just chalk it up to another growth spurt, haha). I tried to get her to do it again, but she wasn’t having it. Probably a combination of her fussiness, and it being late in the day, so she was pretty tired. But I fully plan on trying this again tomorrow. I can’t wait!

A pic from today:

aka, photo post. Yeah, I know, groan away. It’s almost bedtime, I’m running low on brain cells.

Not much new to report in the past few days. The RAIN is killing us, it’s just ridiculous how much rain we’ve had lately. We’ve had playdates the past three days with Cait & Gracie, and Erin & Jacob. We’ve hit all 3 of our houses, so we could all escape for a couple of days. Today the sun came out, miracle of all miracles, so we went to Southie to walk Castle Island. It was GORGEOUS out. And in typical Southie fashion, CI was packed. Oh, yes, you read that right. Packed, at noon, on a Thursday, and not with strollers and playgroups…anyway. We walked the kiddos around the fort for a bit, and then headed back to Cait’s for naptime and a late lunch for the mamas.

Castle Island

(A fisheye shot at Castle Island I took last winter.)

Early Intervention came yesterday, and went great. Lila showed off her desire to sit up, stand, and blow raspberries at everyone. She grabbed at her toys, and rolled onto her side. None of this is new to us, but it’s always kind of a relief when she “performs” when EI is here. Because I think she is perfect, and I want them to think so too.

As always, more recent shots of Lila, just us hanging out here at home:
